Allkali metals are the group of elements on the most left column of the periodic table (though hydrogen is not an alkali metal, but instead shares similar properties with the alkali metals, such as their reactivity). Their most notable property is the ability to form Hydrogen gas when put in water, and the ability to make that hydrogen combust, resulting in an explosion a couple of seconds later.
