Alkali metal
From Chemistry
The alkali metals are a series of chemical elements comprising Group 1 of the periodic table: lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), caesium (Cs), and francium (Fr). Although hydrogen is in Group 1, it rarely if ever exhibits behavior comparable to those of the Alkali metals. Here is how many electrons per shell each alkali metal has:
| Atomic # | Element | No. of electrons/shell |
|---|---|---|
| 3 | Lithium | 2, 1 |
| 11 | Sodium | 2, 8, 1 |
| 19 | Potassium | 2, 8, 8, 1 |
| 37 | Rubidium | 2, 8, 18, 8, 1 |
| 55 | Caesium | 2, 8, 18, 18, 8, 1 |
| 87 | Francium | 2, 8, 18, 32, 18, 8, 1 |
